From the recording Out Walking
I have always walked... I got my first driver's licence when I was 32, and then only out of necessity. You discover things about the place in which you are living when you walk. So many things take on a vivid life and texture of their own when you are walking. You feel the wind, the rain, the air, the light, the dark. You can get your head straight in a long walk, because there is only yourself to talk to. You just keep walking until the noise and the clutter goes away and you are left with a single motiff and your life takes on the resonance of the rhythm of your feet... out walking in your own neighbourhood. This is the opening track on my second CD 'Scenes from the Neighbourhood'.
